WATER FITNESS

Water exercise, adult swim lessons (it's NEVER too late) and adapted exercise for those with disabilities or in rehabilitation are some of the water-based activities available at the Y.

FEELS GREAT WITH LOW IMPACT

The pool is great for exercise because the water offers resistance while reducing the impact of land-based exercises. Water exercise classes are a fun way to exercise, and the low-impact workout builds strength and flexibility for people of all ages.

Aqua Aerobics

Complete water fitness class using a variety of exercises and equipment. Activities may include dance, calisthenics, walking, and kicking. Intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Each class consists of warm-up, aerobic, cool-down, muscle toning and flexibility segments. Class may take place in shallow water, deep water or a combination of shallow and deep water.

Aqua Arthritis

AFYAP (Arthritis Foundation: YMCA Aquatic Program) This is a soothing exercise class specifically designed for those with arthritis. This class focuses on building strength, balance, and flexibility for those with arthritis. The class uses unique equipment and exercises to help participants get a work out while not causing additional pain. All exercises are low impact in shallow water. This class is instructed by a certified Arthritis Foundation instructor. The instructor is certified by the YMCA and the National Arthritis Foundation. A Doctors release form is required.

Aqua Zumba

Burn calories and tone muscle in this fast paced low impact Aqua Aerobics Class. Much like dry land Zumba, workouts incorporate Latin dance. This class is for beginners and athletes alike.

Aqua Yoga

Balance, strength, flexibility, and focus are practiced through a variety of asanas (positions) in the pool. You will benefit from the water’s buoyancy for joints, and the surprising challenge to subtle core stability while holding poses. Leave the pool feeling centered and relaxed.

Aqua Yoga

This fun-filled class provides intense cardio-vascular activity incorporating aerobic moves suitable to the pool. The class begins with standard warm-up and ends with a relaxing cool-down. This water workout is designed to improve cardiovascular endurance and increase muscular strength by incorporating activities of various intensities.

Hydro Fit

This class is designed to offer a variety of cardiovascular and muscular endurance exercises taking influences from kickboxing; plyometric and Zumba. You will get your blood pumping and your body moving in this high energy class.
